CIX's title 'Jungle' is a song that expresses the desperate feelings of being forced to become dominated by the target of being saved. The agency and the director set their own hell for each member and then embodied the image.

10 years ago, in my last short film 'Funeral', I shot it only Caravaggio's work as a reference.
It is a fact that everyone knows that many of the contemporary lighting techniques have been developed in paintings by painters in the Baroque or Renaissance period.
Among them, Caravaggio painted many pictures with the Chiaroscuro technique in which the contrast is extremely sharp by shining a spotlight on the main characters in a dark background.
As much as the extreme contrast, his paintings have many intense works reminiscent of hell.
So when the director showed me the concept images of this music video, I remembered the works of Caravaggio among the Baroque oil paintings. I thought that the music video of'Jungle' also had to have an intense contrast of light and dark like it.

I think that the most important thing in extreme contrasting lighting is the texture of the shadows.
At the time of filming the short film 'Funeral', in Korea, the film was already pushed by digital cameras, and it were hardly used, but I thought that the depth and texture of the dark part was the most important, so I shot it on 16mm-film.

If I had the option to choose between the digital and the film , I would have suggested shooting with a the film. However, in Korea, it has been a long time since film cameras have not taken pictures, and there are no film labs.

Instead, I chose Alexa Mini and Hawk Vantage One Lens, and while shooting, I tried to express a sense of depth by using haze, fog, and dry ice on the set to bring out the texture of the dark parts.
