This video is a launching film introducing the new Sportage of Kia Motors.

In this work, the director wanted it to be made in a format that has the main story like a movie and naturally expresses the car in it.

This video consists of the story of a woman who searches for birds and the story of a man who collects sounds and makes music. And the stories are clearly different in-camera walking and lighting tone and manner.

In the story of the bird-searching woman, the natural light was the most important because the background was mostly in nature.
Our lighting concept was not to be artificial and blended naturally with daylight.
While we were filming it felt as if God already knew the tone and manners of each sequence. Sunlight, skylight, sunset, sunrise and even clouds helped us. The sky and clouds were so beautiful and we were lucky.

In the man's story, the city center and his studio were the main spaces.
The lighting concept of the story was to have a tone and manner reminiscent of a sophisticated city night. Gaffer and I used HMI, Skypanel and Astera to create color and contrast in the space.

In the story of a woman, it was relatively static and it was important to follow the emotions of the characters naturally, so it was mainly shot with restrained track movements or handheld techniques.
In the man's story, I tried to do a dynamic and rhythmical camera walking that is like the tempo of the music he's making.

The director wasn't thinking about the cinemascope ratio in the early days of pre-production.
I told the director that this video seems to be suitable for cinemascope ratio by borrowing as much cinematic expression as possible.
I recommended the Hawk V-lite anamorphic lens, which I love.
