Importance of lens selection

This video is a commercial of Piaget first made in Korea. This will be used in Piaget's Asia and global promotion.
The starring of this commercial is Korean actress Kong Hyo-Jin. In this film She show Piaget's products naturally in her lifestyle.

I thought the choice of lens was very important when preparing this works. I wanted to express it naturally but not common, and I wanted to make the feminine charm stand out enough. It was also important to show the charm of the movie actoress Kong Hyo-Jin. So I suggested the Hawk Vintage 74 'anamorphic lens to the director, tested it before shooting and showed it to the director. The director was also pleased with the unique charm of the lens, and despite the very expensive rental fee, we chose it.
The soft, low contrast, warm color and distinctive lens flare of Hawk Vintage 74 'were enough to make the screen in this commercial attractive.

In the film camera era, the images was characterized various film types and film-development methods, which showed a clear difference in the eyes of producers and viewers. So we could express the texture of the image through different film type and development method according to the work.
In the era of digital cameras, there are various high-end cameras such as Arri, Sony, Red digital camera, Panavision, and each camera has its own characteristics. But I think that any camera can work close to the image we want with the extended digital image processing technology. However, I think that it is not easy to change or to make the texture of the image and the unique analog processing process that the lens accepts light. Therefore, I think that it has become more important to choose the lens according to the work than the film camera era.
