This department store we filmed was uniquely built to let outside light in on the whole floor. It was the most important point of advertising for this department store we produced.

In the intro of this video, the director wanted the sunlight outside the window to enter the space and shine on the main character and make her shadow on the floor by the sunlight.
However, I found that there was an important problem during the location scouting. That was because a window of space for filming the intro sequence was built facing northeast.
Since the season at the time we were filming was winter with low sun angles and short days, only about 2 hours of sunlight was seen in the space we wanted. It gave me and Gaffer great trouble.

Suddenly, I remembered that the DP of 'First Man' recreated the hard sunlight using the Softsun 200Kw in the desert to shoot the moon's landing sequence in the movie 'First Man, 2018'. However, we judged that there is only one SoftSun 50Kw in Korea and it is too soft to express the shadow we want, and it is not efficient.
In the end, we recreated the sunlight using 2 lighting cranes and 2 HMI 18Kws. Unfortunately, compared to the size of the windows, the amount of light we installed didn't feel enough to recreate sunlight.

I used the Hawk V-lite 2x lens, which is anamorphic lens, because I thought level was more important than the vertical of the space we were filming, and decided that we needed anamorphic unique flare that responded to the light, the main point of this Ad
If the main character of this Ad was the building and it had to be accurately and neatly expressed, like other Ad of other buildings, the lens would have chosen the least distorted and most sharp master anamophic lens.

In fact, the lens that I thought was most appropriate for this Ad was Hawk Vintage 74'. But there was only one set in Korea, but I found it no longer existed, and I was very disppointed.
