Director of Photography
Myeongje Kim
The video is intended to unveil a new generation of Kia's Stinger.
The director told me that he hoped the video would be expressed in a cinematic mood.
To this end, I took underexposure of about 1-stop when shooting, and tried to express as cinematic as possible through gamma-correction in the color correction process.
I thought the anamorphic lens good for expressing the horizontal appearance of a car, and it was suitable for expressing the cinematic texture.
Arri Master Anamorphic does not have the texture, distortion, and lens flare peculiar to anamorphic lenses that we generally know, but because it expresses sharpness and color clearly, I thought it was suitable for this video. This is because this video is basically an unveiling film of a new car, so I thought it was necessary to show the appearance of the car as clearly and accurately as possible without distortion.
One of the regrets of the master anamorphic lens, the lens flare, was supplemented by additionally using the Master anamorphic Flare-kit.
The basic light setting was Aladdin LED light-tile, which made 9 x 3 meters Fisher-Light and lifted it with a crane and floated it on top of the car, and we could dial in the temperature and intensity through our DMX dimmer board.
The light coming from the rear window was a 4KW HMI Molebeam.
In the interior, as an artistic element, 8 9KW 9-Light Maxi Brute and various tungsten lights were installed, and then connected to a light amount controller to control the brightness and maintain a color temperature of 2600-2800K.
The reason I set the lighting with various color temperatures is because I tried to make the mood of the film less monotonous by creating the contrast of colors.
