NCT127 ‘Regular’ Official Video (Korean Ver.)
It is a Music Video from 'Regular,' the title track of the U.S. debut album of Korea's idol group 'NCT127.'
The video is a Korean version of 'Regular,' and compared to the English version, editing and ending cuts are different.
So, places and images in the music videos, such as Jongno, Pyeonghwa Market, Sewoon plaza, the tiger on the mural, and old barbershop, are familiar to Koreans, but may be refreshing and stimulating for foreigners.
The director told me that he didn't want to make it look like a typical Korean idol music video, and that he didn't want to shoot the show in a typical way, either.
I also strongly favored it.
We do not focus on the beautiful and handsome appearance of each artist's face like the typical idol music video. But the artist, their gestures, the image of the space, the lighting, and the camera movement in the work fit well in one frame I wanted to be seen as a ‘mise-en-scéne’.
We shoted a lot of pictures with hand-held techniques, which was a good way to naturally express the artists' gestures and fit to express their spontaneous feelings.
I suggested that the director use the anamorphic lens to this video because I thought it would go well with the space and concept we were going to film.
In fact, there are no many kinds of anamorphic Lenses in Korea. Usually, there are mostly Cooke or Master anamorphic lenses, which are not only very bulky and heavy, but were also not suitable to express the texture I want on the screen.
I didn't want to lose clarity and chroma though the color of the picture's screen is a bit vintage and it looks three-dimensional. And I wanted to express the unique lens flares and distortions of the anamorphic lens.
I tried to find a lens to meet my needs, and I got the conclusion that it was Hawk V-lite or Vintage 74 lens.
Fortunately, I knew there was a just only one set in korea, so I could use it for shooting.
